Dear Devotees,

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

KB Mandir’s annual book distribution marathon on behalf of Gita Jayanthi, which began in the last week of October 2015 concluded on December 31st.

In a letter to Hrdayananda Prabhu dated 21 December 1974, Srila Prabhupada wrote:

“Print as many books as possible, this is my real pleasure. By printing these books of our Krishna Conscious philosophy in so many languages we can actually inject our movement into the masses of persons all over the world, especially there in the Western countries and we can literally turn whole nations into Krishna Conscious nations”.

Goal
In keeping with the mission of spreading Krishna Consciousness and giving mercy to conditioned souls, devotees at KB Mandir organized its annual books marathon with a goal of distributing at least 2,000 books and $20,000 laxmi points for the pleasure of Sri Sri Krishna Balaram, Nitai Gauranga and Srila Prabhupada.

Summary:
Book distribution occurred with much enthusiasm during practically all weekends of the marathon. Books were distributed during several Hari Nama Sankirtana performances in Palo Alto and Mountainview, during special events marking different festivals, on Srila Prabhupada’s appearance and disappearance days, Govardhan Puja, Thanksgiving, Gita Jayanthi, Christmas and finally during the New Year celebrations.
We distributed multiple foreign language books to devotees from various nationalities. Some highlights included massive distribution of books, book packs and Srimad Bhagavatam sets via: door-to-door distribution at large apartment complexes in several towns of the Bay; Sankirtana teams traveling to the San Ramon area; distribution at festivals, universities, temples, stores, farmer’s markets and other special venues.

Both adults and children were active participants in door-to-door book distribution. Devotees sponsored cases of Bhagavad Gitas and Srimad Bhagavatam sets; or made donations to support Sankirtana at the temple.

Additionally, Srila Prabhupada’s books were also distributed on college campuses and other venues by the college preaching team.

Final Results:

All the scores from the Gita Jayanthi marathon were compiled and here’s a summary of the final results.

In all, close to 56 devotees participated in book distribution. They distributed 2,044 books, surpassing our initial goal as well as last year’s high of 1,768 books distributed during the 2014 annual marathon.

IHF devotees raised $23,089 (including donations and pledges to Corporate Matches), surpassing our goal as well as last year's high of $16,915.

We are grateful to all the participating devotees, donors and sponsors who contributed to the success of this marathon, with special thanks to Team IHF book distribution team members as well as Vikram Krishna Prabhu and Nanda Kishore Prabhu for inspiring us.

Book Distribution of two thousand Books ki jai!

Sri Krishna Balaram, Sri Gaura Nitai ki Jai!

All Glories to Srila Prabhupada!

Yours in service,

Satvata Das
